The Barbarian Way - Post 2

On Sunday I posted a short quote from The Barbarian Way. John was in prison, his death knell at hand when he sent his disciplies to ask Jesus the question. How did Jesus answer the question?

"Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. 6Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."

The author (Erwin McManus) offers an insiteful take on this.

Jesus was saying to him, "John, I'm not coming through for you. I'm not getting you out of prison. I'm not sparing your life. Yes, I have done all this and more for others, but the path I choose for you is different from theirs. You'll be blessed, John, if this does not cause you to fall away."

"Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."

Cool thing to remember: Do not fall away from Christ because of the great things He has done for some, but knows would be better left undone for others.
