To follow up our reading of Holes, we watched the Holes movie last night. The movie follows the book very closely and I recommend both. It would definitely be better to read the book first though.

Chapter Book Update
Kylee, Makenna and I decided that I had not actually read Ramona Quimby, Age 8 to them. So I am reading that now.
To follow up our reading of Holes, we watched the Holes movie last night. The movie follows the book very closely and I recommend both. It would definitely be better to read the book first though.

"Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen is also a good option for a book/movie combo, though the movie veers more from the book than does "Holes."
Plus, Hoot movie has a fun soundtrack featuring Jimmy Buffet (but also a really terrible cameo by Buffet as a science teacher).
I recommend "Caddie Woodlawn" to read aloud to the girls. I think they'd really enjoy it.
I love Holes! One of my top 5 favorite books of all time.The book is better, but the movies dialog is mostly the same as the book. The chacters are the same exept for Shi Lubuf But he is the man
